2 Minnesota Companies Involved In Beef E. coli Recall
Minneapolis-based Target carried the products nationwide, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

MINNESOTA — Minnetonka-based Cargill is recalling approximately 132,606 pounds of ground beef products made from the chuck portion of the carcass that may be contaminated with E. coli O26, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced.
The ground beef items were produced and packaged on June 21. The USDA says Aldi stores in Minnesota and Target stores nationwide are among the retailers that carried the beef products.
According to the USDA, the investigation identified 17 illnesses and one death. Illness onset dates ranged from July 5-25.

The USDA said the Cargill products were identified as part of an investigation into an Aug. 30 recall of ground beef products.
"FSIS' traceback information indicated that case-patients consumed ground beef products purchased at various retail stores that were supplied by Cargill Meat Solutions," the USDA said in a press release.

The USDA is concerned the recalled products may be in consumers' freezers. The agency is urging consumers not to eat the recalled products and to throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
The products were produced and packaged on June 21 and bear establishment number "EST. 86R" inside the USDA mark of inspection.
