MILLE LACS COUNTY, MN — A six-year-old girl was killed after she was hit on Highway 169 in Mille Lacs County Thursday night.

Just after 10:45 p.m., a GMC Acadia SUV was traveling south on Highway 169 near Onamia, authorities said. The child was on the highway in the path of the GMC and was struck, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The child was killed at the scene.

The driver of the GMC, a 48-year-old woman from Garrison, has not yet been identified.
