Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Endorses Minn. Candidate For Congress

The rising progressive star has been stumping for like-minded candidates across the Midwest since her upset win back in June.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Self-described democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, whose recent win in New York's Democratic primary sent shockwaves through the party's establishment wing, is asking Minnesotans to support Ilhan Omar for Congress.

Omar, who currently represents a portion of Minneapolis in the state House, is now running for Rep. Keith Ellison's seat in Congress.

Ellison withdrew from his re-election campaign earlier this year to run for Minnesota Attorney General.

Ocasio-Cortez, a rising progressive star, has been stumping for like-minded candidates across the Midwest since her upset win back in June.

The former Bernie Sanders campaign staffer believes Democratic candidates can find success in the upcoming midterms by endorsing progressive policies including Medicare for all and tuition-free college.

However, it's not yet clear if her campaign style that worked in the Bronx can translate to success in the Midwest.
