ST. PAUL, MN — The Honduras men’s soccer team might want to buy some heavy winter jackets: Allianz Field in St. Paul will host a World Cup qualifying match between Honduras and the U.S. in February 2022, officials announced Wednesday.

The U.S. men’s national soccer team will play Honduras on Feb. 2, according to a news release. This is the U.S. team’s second visit to the stadium after beating Guyana in 2019. The stadium also hosted Carli Lloyd’s final home game for the U.S. women’s national team, CBS reports.

The match will occur on a date when the average St. Paul temperature is 24.6 degrees, and the average low is a balmy 8 degrees. By that point, the U.S. team might be used to frigid temperatures: they will face El Salvador in Columbus, Ohio on Jan. 27, then Canada in Hamilton, Ontario on Jan. 30, the Associated Press reports.

The U.S. men’s team currently ranks second behind Canada in Confederation of North, Central and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) standings, according to Fox 9 News. The top three teams in the group will earn automatic qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, which will take place in November and December 2022.

“As we have seen throughout the qualifying process so far, great stadiums and great atmospheres provide a huge advantage to our team,” USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter said. “We’ve had fantastic experiences in Columbus and the Twin Cities and look forward to continuing our World Cup Qualifying campaign in front of our fans.”
