Minnesota Drivers Say These 4 Off-Ramps Are The State's Most Stressful

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Minnesota's most stressful off-ramp is in Minneapolis, according to a new survey of more than 3,000 drivers.

The survey, conducted for personal injury law firm Regan Zambri Long, ranked I-35W Exit 15 to Lake Street in Minneapolis as the state's most stressful off-ramp.

The exit can quickly turn tense as drivers leave freeway speeds and enter a busy urban corridor, according to the survey writeup.

Traffic often tightens near the end of the ramp, where vehicles approach signals and congestion can build during peak travel times.

The survey ranked four Minnesota off-ramps as the state's most stressful:

1. I-35W Exit 15 to Lake Street, Minneapolis
2. I-94 Exit 238 to Snelling Avenue, St. Paul
3. US-52 Exit 56A to Civic Center Drive, Rochester
4. I-494 Exit 6 to France Avenue, Bloomington

The Snelling Avenue exit off I-94 ranked second. The survey noted that the exit carries steady commuter traffic and can become backed up as drivers approach nearby intersections.

Rochester's US-52 Exit 56A to Civic Center Drive ranked third, followed by I-494 Exit 6 to France Avenue in Bloomington.

Patrick Regan of Regan Zambri Long said stressful exits can become more than just a daily annoyance.

"These exits aren’t just frustrating - they’re where a lot of collisions happen," Regan said. "When traffic compresses, and drivers are forced to react quickly, it increases the likelihood of rear-end crashes and sudden lane conflicts. From a legal perspective, we see how often these moments escalate."
