MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Freeze warnings and frost advisories are in effect across much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin overnight before temperatures climb back above normal later this week, according to the National Weather Service.
Lows Sunday night are expected to fall into the upper 20s and 30s across the region, with frost expected in many areas.
The Twin Cities area was included in a frost advisory, while parts of central Minnesota and western Wisconsin were under a freeze warning, according to the National Weather Service Twin Cities.
"Freezing temperatures are likely overnight across portions of central & western Wisconsin," the weather service said in its hazardous weather outlook Sunday afternoon.
The chill will not last long.
Temperatures are expected to begin warming Monday, with highs ranging from the low 60s to low 70s across the region. In the Twin Cities, Monday is expected to be sunny, with a high near 68.
Rain chances return late Monday night, when there is a 50 percent chance of showers after 1 a.m. in the Twin Cities area.
Tuesday will bring warmer, breezier weather. The Twin Cities forecast calls for a high near 74, with northwest winds of 20 to 25 mph and gusts as high as 35 mph.
The National Weather Service said very dry, warm and windy conditions will lead to elevated fire weather conditions Monday afternoon and evening.
The warming trend continues later in the week. Wednesday is expected to be sunny, with a high near 71 in the Twin Cities. Thursday could reach 76 before an evening chance of showers and thunderstorms.
Friday could be the warmest day of the week, with a high near 81 in the Twin Cities.
