Twin Cities Memorial Day Forecast Takes Summer-Like Turn: MN Weather

After a cool and unsettled start to the holiday weekend, the Twin Cities could see sunshine and temperatures in the 80s by Memorial Day.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Memorial Day weekend in the Twin Cities may start on the cooler side, but the forecast takes a summer-like turn by the end of the holiday stretch.

The National Weather Service says highs will remain in the 60s through Saturday, with the best chance for rain arriving Friday night into early Saturday.

Friday night could bring showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 a.m., with a 60 percent chance of precipitation. Saturday carries a 40 percent chance of showers before 1 p.m., according to the NWS forecast for Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

Things improve significantly from there.

Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 78. Memorial Day itself looks even warmer, with sunny skies and a high near 84.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 64.

Wednesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 44.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy early, then gradual clearing, with a high near 66.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 46.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 64.

Friday night: Showers likely, with a possible thunderstorm after 1 a.m. Low around 48. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Saturday: A 40 percent chance of showers before 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 67.

Saturday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 78.

Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 56.

Memorial Day: Sunny, with a high near 84.

Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 86.
