MSP Airport Ground Stop Lifted After FAA Equipment Outage

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — A two-hour ground stop affecting flights bound for Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was lifted Thursday afternoon after a regional FAA equipment outage, according to the FAA's Air Traffic Control System Command Center.

The stop applied to MSP-bound departures from air traffic control centers across the country, including facilities serving Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Dallas, Atlanta and Denver, along with flights originating in Halifax, Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto.

The FAA reported an average delay of 45 minutes and a maximum delay of 80 minutes tied to the stop, which ran from about 2 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Officials listed the probability of an extension as medium before operations resumed. Passengers are advised to contact their airlines for the latest flight status.
