Amtrak Officer Charged In Shooting Death of Minneapolis Man
An Amtrak police officer has been charged with murder in connection to the shooting death of a Minneapolis man.
An Amtrak police officer has been charged with first-degree murder in connection to the shooting death of Chad Robertson, 25, of Minneapolis, who was shot and killed by the officer in an on-duty incident that took place near the Union Station train station in Chicago on Feb. 8, 2017.
LaRoyce Tankson, 31, turned himself into to law enforcement authorities late Thursday and is scheduled to appear for a bond court hearing Friday at noon at the George Leighton Criminal Courts Building in Chicago, according to a news release.
It isn’t entirely clear what led up to the shooting.

Minneapolis native Robertson was returning from a attending a family funeral in Memphis, Tennessee on the Mega Bus, according to Justice for Chad Robertson Press Conference & Rally:
He had a one hour layover in Chicago. While on the layover, he and friends riding with him were accosted by Amtrak for no apparent reason, Clearly he and friends were profiled by police. Police asked them to leave they complied but one left a bag behind and went back to retrieve bag. What happened next is disputed but the known facts are he was unarmed and attempted to flee the situation and was shot in his back.
Robertson died about a week later, WLS Chicago reported. Officers found money and drugs in Robertson's possession at the scene of the shooting, but no weapon.
