Anaplasmosis and Erlichiosis, What's That?
Lyme disease is not the only thing we have to worry about with ticks and dogs. Read on to learn more.

Last year, one out of every 10 dogs tested had been exposed to a tick-borne disease. Although many dogs do not get sick when they’ve been exposed, some do, and we’re seeing more and more dogs affected by these diseases. Although there is a vaccine available for protection from Lyme disease, ticks in our area can also carry the bacteria that cause Anaplasmosis and Erhlichiosis. That’s why we recommend using a topical flea/tick preventative monthly from March to November, and testing dogs annually so we know if they’ve been exposed and can monitor them for signs of illness. Please don’t hesitate to call the clinic if we can help answer questions about preventing tick-related illness in your dog.
