Collin is married to former Minneapolis police union president Bob Kroll. Following Kroll's controversial comments about George Floyd, the couple became the subject of protests outside their home in Hugo on Aug. 15, 2020.

Piñatas of Kroll and Liz Collin were smashed during the demonstration.

At the time, activists called for her to resign from her news position, saying that her connection to Kroll created a conflict of interest.

Collin did not reveal her future plans on Tuesday but said "the truth makes me tick. I will get back to telling it soon" and invited followers to email her news tips.

"From the bottom of my heart, thank you."
