The final opinion has not been released, and justices can change their votes. The ruling is expected to be released in late June.

Minnesota's other Democratic senator, Amy Klobuchar, tweeted that "Health care decisions should be between a woman and her doctor, not Ted Cruz."

Minnesota's Democratic reps. Ilhan Omar, Dean Phillips and Betty McCollum also voiced their support for abortion rights.

The state's Republicans in Congress — Tom Emmer and Michelle Fischbach — have not yet reacted publicly. Republican Rep. Jim Hagedorn died in February.

In the draft, Alito stated that "We cannot allow our decisions to be affected by any extraneous influences such as concern about the public’s reaction to our work."
