Body Found At Pawn Shop That Burned During Violent Protests
Max It Pawn, located on the 2700 block of Lake Street in Minneapolis, was burned down May 28.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN — A man's body was discovered Monday as federal, state, and local authorities were going through the burned wreckage at Max It Pawn, located on the 2700 block of East Lake Street in Minneapolis.
Minneapolis police homicide detectives have taken over the case.
On June 11, Montez Terriel Lee was charged with setting a fire at the pawn shop. Federal investigators accuse Lee of starting the blaze on May 28, during the violent protests that broke out after the death of George Floyd.

The identity of the body, along with the nature and cause of death, will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office in the days to come.
