Minneapolis' Sherwin Linton Merges Cash and Coe
Sherwin Linton: The soul of country in Minnesota

If you combine the musicality of Waylon Jennings, the deep voice of Johnny Cash and the bad-to-the-bone demeanor of David Alan Coe, you still wouldn't capture the essence of local country hero Sherwin Linton.
Born in South Dakota, Sherwin moved to Minneapolis in 1957. Despite a string of Nashville recordings, Minneapolis still claims him as its own. Fifty years later, Sherwin still plays here in Minneapolis and across the country, still putting on a spectacle of a show.
Recorded in Nashville between 1966 and 1968, the album "My Kind of Song" is classic Linton. Find it in the Local Heroes section.
