What is GDV and How Can it Be Prevented?

Gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV) is a deadly condition where the stomach distends with gas and then rotates on its axis. No one quite knows the definitive reason a GDV occurs. One association with GDV is exercising too soon after eating a meal.  As the warm weather approaches, remember to rest your pet for 45 minutes after eating; and it is best to feed smaller, multiple meals throughout the day.
