Vehicle Rear-Ended Cop Car on I-35W Traffic Stop Before Entering Roadway
The vehicle that rear-ended the squad car then went into the roadway of I-35W and was also struck. Four people were transported to HCMC.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Four people were transported to a nearby hospital after a squad car was rear-ended on Interstate 35W early Saturday morning.
The Minneapolis police squad car was struck while on a traffic stop on I-35W. The vehicle that rear-ended the squad car then went into the roadway of I-35W and was also struck.
Minneapolis police told Patch the crash took place on southbound I-35W/35th Street at approximately 2:04 a.m. Saturday. The officer was in the squad car at the time of the crash.

Police are investigating if the male driver that struck the squad car was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. A blood test was taken from him and will be sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for testing.

The police response to the accident was extensive, and traffic on I-35W was reduced to one lane in both directions.

As of 3:20 a.m. Saturday, traffic on southbound I-35W near the 36th street exit was still bumper to bumper. Minneapolis police blocked the southbound entrance to the freeway from 36th Street.
