Crews Work on Gas, Sewer Line Replacement: Penn Avenue Reconstruction Update

The public works department updates residents on the next steps of the Penn Avenue South reconstruction project that began April 10.

After being delayed by a couple spring snow storms and rain, crews have began working on the reconstruction of Penn Avenue South again.

Currently, CenterPoint Energy and Meyer Contracting are respectively working on gas line and sewer replacement, according to a recent Minneapolis Department of Public Works e-newsletter update.

The first phase of road reconstruction began April 10. Penn Avenue is closed thru traffic between West 54th and 60th streets. However, all east/west cross-streets, including 60th and 54th streets, are open. In addition, businesses are also open through the construction.
