MINNEAPOLIS — CVS Health has closed 46 "underperforming" stores nationwide, including three locations in the Twin Cities. The closures took place over the past two months.

According to USA Today, the closures represent fewer than 1 percent of the approximate 9,600 CVS Pharmacy locations in the United States.

CVS CEO Larry Merlo told the newspaper last year that the company planned to reduce floor space for retail products and instead focus more on providing health care services.
