Deadly Crash On I-94 Involved Metro Transit Bus

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Snowy and icy road conditions may have been a factor in a deadly crash on eastbound Interstate 94 at Lowry Avenue in Minneapolis Sunday.

A Metro Transit bus — occupied only by the driver — was traveling south on I-94E in the right lane. A Nissan Versa traveling the same way lost traction and spun out. The Metro Transit bus broad-sided the Versa, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The impact caused a fatal injury to the right-front passenger, 30-year-old Rashid Mohamed Faqid. The Versa's driver and rear-seat passenger were transported to North Memorial.

Minneapolis and Metro Transit police responded to the scene.
