'Unknown' If Alcohol Was Factor In Wrong-Way I-94 Crash: Police

The crash killed a 26-year-old motorcyclist from Faribault.

MINNEAPOLIS — A 26-year-old motorcyclist from Faribault died in a head-on crash on Interstate 94 in Minneapolis late Sunday. Sergio Jaime Silva, 26, was driving a 2009 Yamaha westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-94 at Broadway Avenue, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities say the motorcycle then crashed head-on into a Kia Stinger just after 9 p.m.

Silva died at the scene. The driver of the Kia — a Saint Paul man — did not suffer injuries, investigators said.

It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to police.
