Father Charged After Son, 12, Shot And Killed Younger Brother: Cops
Police said they found eight guns in the father's apartment. The father left his children alone in his apartment, according to authorities.

MINNEAPOLIS — A father has been charged with second-degree manslaughter after police said his 12-year-old son shot and killed his 10-year-old brother in Minneapolis.
Brandon L. Mayberry, 31, faces up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 dollar fine if convicted.
On April 15, officers responded to an apartment complex on the 300 block of Hennepin Avenue on a report of a child with a gunshot wound to his chest.

At the building, officers found the 10-year-old and started life-saving measures before transporting the boy to the hospital, where he died.
Officers also spoke with the 12-year-old, who was "hysterical," the criminal complaint states. The 12-year-old said he found a gun under a pillow in his father’s bedroom, according to investigators.

The 12-year-old said he dropped the gun and it went off, striking his younger brother, police said.
Mayberry had left for work and left his two children in the apartment alone when the shooting occurred, the criminal complaint states.
Police said they found a total of eight guns in Mayberry's apartment, including some that were loaded. Officers also found unsecured ammo in the apartment, according to the criminal complaint.
