Florida Man Gets Probation, Fine After Threatening To Kill Rep. Omar
In an email, the man asked Rep. Ilhan Omar if she was prepared "to die for Islam" and said he was going to shoot her, authorities said.

MINNEAPOLIS — A Florida man was sentenced to three years of probation and given a $7,000 fine after admitting in court that he sent an email threatening to kill Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and three other congresswomen.
On April 19, David Hannon, 67, of Sarasota, pleaded guilty to one count of threatening a federal official.
Hannon must also undergo mental health and substance abuse treatment and cannot contact the congresswoman, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

According to authorities, on July 16, 2019, Hannon sent an email to Omar threatening to kill her. The email came after a televised press conference held by Omar and Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan.
The subject of the email read "[You’re] dead, you radical Muslim," authorities said. In the email, Hannon referred to Omar and the other congresswomen as "radical rats," and asked Omar if she was prepared "to die for Islam," investigators said.

The email further stated that Hannon was going to shoot the congresswomen in the head, according to authorities.
