"It was another perfect day on the lake, until the unthinkable happened. I’ve spent the last week in a hospital room, surrounded by family and friends, going through the ups and downs that come with losing a limb. My room was filled with an unimaginable amount of visitors, flowers, gifts, caregivers, nurses and doctors. I may have lost part of my leg, but I will never lose my spirit."

Months later, the California native made her return to local TV, calling it a "full circle moment."
