Gov. Mark Dayton Declares Oct. 22 'Jacob Wetterling Day'

Gov. Mark Dayton declared Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, to be "Jacob Wetterling Day" in Minnesota.

Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton Friday issued a proclamation declaring Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, to be “Jacob Wetterling Day” in Minnesota, which marks the 27th anniversary of his kidnapping.

The memorial service for Jacob Wetterling is set for Sunday, Sept. 25.

The remains of Jacob, who disappeared 27 years ago in St. Joseph, were found earlier this month in Paynesville.

Daniel Heinrich confessed in U.S. District Court that he abducted and murdered Jacob on Oct. 22, 1989.
