How Many Fully Vaccinated People Have Died Of COVID In MN?
"Breakthrough" cases of COVID-19 continue to be rare in Minnesota.
ACROSS MINNESOTA — The coronavirus vaccines continue to show strong effectiveness against the virus in Minnesota, even as cases surge across the state. "Breakthrough" cases of COVID-19 continue to be rare.
A breakthrough case is when someone tests positive for the virus after being fully vaccinated. People who contracted COVID-19 before being vaccinated are not included in the number of breakthrough cases.
Total breakthrough cases
Out of the 3,180,723 Minnesotans who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, 45,827 people — or 1.441 percent — have contracted the virus, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.

As of Monday, there have been 770,246 confirmed cases of COVID-19 overall in Minnesota since the pandemic began.
Hospitalization
A total of 2,425 fully vaccinated Minnesotans — or 0.085 percent of the fully vaccinated population — have been hospitalized after getting the virus.

As of Monday, 40,442 Minnesotans have been hospitalized for COVID-19 overall since the pandemic began.
Deaths
A total of 263 fully vaccinated Minnesotans have died as a result of complications from COVID-19, according to health officials.
The 263 deaths were recorded because "COVID-19 is listed on the death certificate or clinical history/autopsy findings that provide evidence that the death is related to COVID-19 without an alternative cause (e.g., drowning, homicide, trauma, etc)."
As of Monday, 8,537 Minnesotans have died from COVID-19 overall since the pandemic began.
