MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Vice President JD Vance is expected to travel to Minneapolis on Thursday for a roundtable with local leaders and community members, according to sources familiar with his plans who spoke on condition of anonymity because the trip has not yet been officially announced.

Vance’s visit comes amid heightened unrest and distrust tied to an ongoing surge of Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity in Minnesota, as well as the recent fatal shooting of Renee Good by an ICE officer in Minneapolis earlier this month.

The visit also comes as the region braces for extreme cold. Forecasts show dangerously low temperatures Thursday and beyond, with wind chills potentially reaching 45 degrees below zero.
