Southdale Center Mall Goes Into Lockdown After Shot Fired
Monday's gun incident at the Edina mall comes after a 19-year-old was shot and killed at the Mall of America late last month.

EDINA, MN — Police are investigating after a gun went off inside Edina's Southdale Center shopping mall on Monday.
Edina police responded to a firearm discharge report around noon at Southdale Center. The gun went off inside Door 13, near an eyelash studio and a Hennepin County service center, according to police.
An Edina police sergeant was working inside Southdale when the weapon discharged. He responded and called for backup, officials said.

Officers could not find a victim, but the mall went into lockdown for about 45 minutes so police could clear the building.
The lockdown was lifted at 1 p.m., and police interviewed witnesses and reviewed camera footage.

Investigators said the person who discharged the firearm left the mall immediately through Door 13.
The investigation is ongoing.
