It's the end of an era. Macy's Inc. is selling its iconic downtown Minneapolis store. The store will close in March after retailing on downtown's Nicollet Mall for more than a century.
During its tenure, the building housed Dayton's, the forerunning to Target, and later Marshall Field's before eventually becoming home for Macy's.
Macy's announced Wednesday that it will close 68 stores across the country in order to save more money, reinvest it in e-commerce and give a smaller number of stores a better customer experience.
