Man Dies After Overnight Shooting in South Minneapolis

One man is dead Wednesday morning after a shooting that took place near Cedar Avenue South and 34th St E.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — One man is dead Wednesday morning after a shooting that took place in south Minneapolis. Officers from city's Third Precinct responded to Cedar Avenue South and 34th St E on a report of gunshots being fired at approximately 10:08 p.m on Nov. 1.

Officers arrived and located a 53-year-old male victim in an alley who had been shot several times. Officers provided medical care to the victim until Minneapolis Fire and Paramedics from Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) arrived. The victim was transported to HCMC where he died this morning, according to a news release.

The name of the deceased, as well as the cause and nature of his death, will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Officers from the Third Precinct were canvasing the neighborhood after the shooting, and a police K-9 was called to the scene to assist in an attempt to locate a possible suspect or evidence. Officers will be back in the neighborhood talking with residents today, and anyone with information about this crime, or any other is encouraged to talk with the officers.

This case is being investigated by the Minneapolis Police Department’s Homicide Unit.
