Man Dies After Fatal Hit-And-Run In Minneapolis

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was transported to Hennepin Healthcare in "grave condition" by paramedics Monday. He died Tuesday.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Authorities in Minneapolis are investigating after a man died in a hit-and-run crash. On Monday at 2:20 a.m. police, fire and Hennepin Healthcare crews responded to a hit-and-run crash on the 600 block of Franklin Avenue West.

Officers were flagged down by a person at the scene who directed them to the pedestrian who was struck. The man, believed to be in his 30s, was transported to Hennepin Healthcare in "grave condition" by the paramedics.

On Tuesday, police were told that the man died at the hospital.

Investigators say the man walking to his car that was parked on the south side of Franklin Avenue. As he was at the side of his car, another car struck him, pinning him between the vehicles momentarily.

When the driver fled, the man became "airborne" and landed in the street, police said.

The traffic unit responded along with crime lab personnel. Homicide detectives are now assigned to thie case.

The identity of the man who was killed will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office in the coming days.
