Man Killed After Confrontation Over Car In Minneapolis: Police
The man was shot Monday afternoon in South Minneapolis, authorities said.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Authorities are investigating after a man was shot and killed confronting two people breaking into a car in South Minneapolis. At 4:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon, Minneapolis police responded to multiple 911 calls on a report of a shooting on the 1000 block of 22nd Street East.
Officers arrived and located a man with no pulse or respirations suffering from a gunshot wound. Police performed CPR and were able to regain a pulse.
He was transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center with grave injuries.

Police believe the man confronted two men who trying to break into his car. The suspects fled on foot and he ran after them. During the brief chase, one of the suspects turned and shot the man, police said. Both suspects fled on foot, according to authorities.
Due to the severity of the injuries, a homicide team of detectives were called in to handle the investigation, according to a news release. The Crime Lab personnel responded to the scene and collected evidence for testing, along with documenting the scene.

The man died at the hospital after surgery. His identity will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
