Man Killed By School Bus In South Minneapolis Identified

The driver and an 8-year-old boy on the school bus were not injured in the crash, authorities said.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Authorities have identified the man who died after he was struck by a school bus early Monday morning in the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis.

Josue Gochez Perez, 27, of Minneapolis was walking west on East 28th Street and was hit by a small bus as it turned left from eastbound East 28th Street onto Cedar Avenue South, according to police.

Officers responded to the scene around 6:45 a.m. and found Perez's body under the bus, according to authorities. He was declared deceased at 6:46 a.m.

Perez died of multiple blunt force injuries and mechanical asphyxia, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner ruled.

The driver was not hurt and cooperated with investigators, according to authorities.

An 8-year-old boy who was riding the bus also had no injuries, police said.
