Man Shot In Minneapolis Drives From Scene, Crashes 2 Blocks Later

The man was transported to North Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minneapolis Police Department is investigating a shooting death Monday evening. At approximately 6:30 p.m., a Shotspotter and calls to 911 reported multiple gunshots in the area of 1800 Russell Ave N.

A white SUV later sped from the area and crashed near 1600 Russell Ave N, police said.

Officers found a man who had been shot sitting in the driver’s seat of the crashed SUV. Officers gave aid to the man until EMS crews arrived. The man was transported to North Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to a news release.

Investigators processed the scene, which includes the 1600 and 1800 blocks of Russell Ave N.

The identity and official cause of death for the deceased man will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s office.
