Man Groped U Of M Student Friday Morning: Police
The woman was able to get away and the suspect fled into the neighborhood, according to police.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minneapolis Police Department says it responded to an attempted sexual assault that occurred at around 6 a.m. near the 600 block of 8th Street SE Friday. A University of Minnesota Twin Cities student was walking when she was grabbed by the suspect.
The suspect attempted to pull the victim into nearby bushes while he groped her, according to police. The woman was able to get away and the suspect fled into the neighborhood, authorities said.
No weapons were seen. The woman describes the suspect a man about 5 feet, 9 inches tall who was wearing all black and smelling of cigarettes.

Authorities are distributing flyers in the area and knocking on doors to advise the public of this incident and share personal safety messaging today and in the days to come.
The University of Minnesota Police Department is working closely with the Minneapolis Police Department on this case, according to a news release.
