VP Mike Pence In Minneapolis: Trump Has Kept His Promises

Vice President Mike Pence was in town Wednesday to promote the recently-passed "Tax Cuts and Jobs Act."

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — "It is great to be back in the Twin Cities," Vice President Mike Pence told an enthusiastic crowd at the Minneapolis convention center Wednesday morning. "I bring greetings from the 45th president of the United States of America, President Donald Trump."

The vice president was in town for an "America First Policies" to promote the recently-passed "Tax Cuts and Jobs Act" and how it will benefit Minnesotans.

Pence thanked Minnesota's congressional Republicans, Jason Lewis, Tom Emmer, Erik Paulsen for helping pass the bill spearheaded by the Trump administration.

He said the president has kept his promises to Americans. "Thousands of Minnesotans have seen bonuses as high as $2,000. That's great news for working families."

Minnesota Democrats quickly rebuffed Pence's praise for the new law.

“Mike Pence is descending on Minnesota to peddle the GOP’s tax scam," Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party Chairman Ken Martin said in a statement Wednesday. "This bill is Robin Hood in reverse. It takes from hardworking Minnesotans to give massive tax breaks to the wealthy.”

“While corporations will see their taxes cut by 40 percent, the plan increases taxes on hundreds of thousands of Minnesotans. And thanks to the bill, more than 700,000 Minnesotans are now limited in their ability to use the state and local tax deductions.”

Donald Trump lost Minnesota by just 44,765 votes — or less than two percentage points — in the 2016 election. Voters in the North Star state could determine whether the Republican Party maintains control of Congress.
