Minneapolis 15th Best City to Raise a Family in: Study

Minneapolis is one the nation's best cities to raise a family in, according to a new report.

A study produced by Forbes found that Minneapolis is the 15th best city in country to raise a family in. Two cities in neighboring states also ranked high on the list; Madison, Wisconsin ranked 12th, and Des Moines, Iowa ranked 11th.

Forbes came up with its rankings by evaluating America’s 100 largest metro areas on:

• median household income
• the percentage of owner-occupied households
• percent of population under 18
• average commuting delays
• violent crime rates per 100,000 inhabitants
• local school quality
• cost of childcare by state
