Minneapolis Boy, 7, Drowned In Swimming Pool: Examiner
The boy drowned at a swimming pool at a residence located on the 2200 block of Pillsbury Avenue South, authorities said.
MINNEAPOLIS — A 7-year-old boy died of accidental drowning in the swimming pool at a south Minneapolis home, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
Bryce Kartier Washington, of Minneapolis, drowned on June 25 at a residence on the 2200 block of Pillsbury Avenue. He was taken to Hennepin Healthcare, where he died at 8:42 p.m
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Water Patrol and the Minneapolis Police Department are investigating.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more children ages 1 to 4 die from drowning than any other cause, except birth defects.
For kids ages 1 to 14, drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury death after car crashes.Drowning rates are higher in some racial and ethnic groups, health officials said.

"Drowning death rates for American Indian or Alaska Native people ages 29 and younger are 2 times higher than the rates for White people, with the highest disparities among those ages 25-29 (rates 3.5 times higher)," the CDC said.
"Drowning death rates for Black people are 1.5 times higher than the rates for White people. Disparities are highest among Black children ages 5-9 (rates 2.6 times higher) and ages 10-14 (rates 3.6 times higher)."
