Minneapolis Invests $1 Million For Tree Canopy To Reduce 'Heat Islands'
The money is coming from the federal American Rescue Plan Act.
MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis officials this week announced that $1 million in funding from the federal American Rescue Plan Act will go to expand the urban tree canopy.
The expansion is aligned with the "Green Minneapolis Climate Resiliency" initiative.
The initiative aims to plant 200,000 trees in Minneapolis by the year 2040. That's on top of the city's existing 600,000 trees.
