Minneapolis Killing Suspect Tried To Flee To Canada: Police
Kayd Mohamed Falug, 23, is now in North Dakota awaiting U.S. interstate extradition proceedings.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN — A Minneapolis killing suspect has been arrested while trying to flee into Canada, police said.
Detectives said there was probable cause to arrest Kayd Mohamed Falug, 23, in connection with Saturday's killing of 19-year-old Abdirisaq Muhudin Namhani.
The investigation into the his whereabouts led detectives to focus on northern Minnesota and North Dakota, police said.

Detectives said they were concerned that Falug was attempting to flee into Canada. They notified U.S. Customs and Border Protection, which in turn alerted the Canada Border Services Agency to be on the lookout for Falug.
On Sunday just after 8 a.m., Canadian border officers intercepted and arrested Falug at the Emerson, Manitoba, port of entry into Canada, police said. They returned Falug to the United States and contacted the Minneapolis Police Department.

Falug was jailed in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and is awaiting U.S. interstate extradition proceedings.
