Minneapolis Lauds Military Veterans
Friday morning, the city council honored city employees who served in the armed forces.

Friday morning, the Minneapolis City Council honored the city's 460 employees who had served in the armed forces.
Police Capt. Lawrence Doyle and Don Pedlar of the city's Impound Lot received the formal resolution recognizing City veterans and active duty personnel on behalf of the city's veterans. The city has around 2,200 employees.
“So many of us go about our work and our lives every day, taking for granted the safety and security we enjoy because of all the people who’ve served our country in the armed forces,” said Mayor RT Rybak. “As Veterans Day approaches, we wanted to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks to all the people who’ve committed themselves to protecting our freedom.”

“We were genuinely surprised to learn such a high number of City employees have served our country, and I think that says something about the calling of public service," said City Council President Barb Johnson. "They serve the residents of our city, and they also commit themselves to serving our country, and that says something about their character.”
