Minneapolis' Neighborhood Election Day Is May 14

Few people participate in their neighborhood board elections, but these organizations can make powerful chances in a community.

MINNEAPOLIS — May 14 is neighborhood Election Day in Minneapolis. Most of the city's 70 neighborhood organizations are holding board member elections.

Less than 1 percent of eligible voters typically cast a ballot for their respective neighborhood organization boards. However, neighborhood boards are "important local forces for change," the city notes.

Neighborhood boards make investments and decisions on behalf of their residents.
