Iowa Football at Minnesota: Everything You Need To Know
Kickoff time, TV, point spread, tickets, parking, traffic and more.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Both teams enter this game disappointed with Saturday’s results. Minnesota (3-1) suffered its first loss of the year with its 29-26 defeat at Penn State, while Iowa (3-2) was stunned at home by Northwestern 38-31.
The Golden Gophers were two seconds from remaining unbeaten Saturday, but Penn State kicker Tyler Davis booted a 40-yard field goal to send the game into overtime. After Minnesota kicker Emmit Carpenter converted on a 46-yard field goal in OT, the Nittany Lions ended the game with a 25-yard touchdown run by Saquon Barkley.
In order for the Gophers to rebound, their defense will have to improve its performance considerably. Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley shredded Minnesota for 335 yards in the air and added 73 yards on the ground for good measure. Iowa quarterback C.J. Beathard doesn’t figure to pose as much of a double threat to the Gophers, but he has thrown for 9 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions. Minnesota will also be tasked with stifling Iowa’s rushing attack which features two runners (LeShun Daniels Jr. and Akrum Wadley) who have combined for 682 yards and 10 touchdowns.
