Minnesota To Get 2 New Major Political Parties
There will soon be four major political parties in Minnesota.

MINNESOTA — There are going to be two new major political parties in Minnesota, and both of them have to do with legalizing marijuana. The "Legal Marijuana Now" Party and the "Grassroots-Legalize Cannabis" Party got at least one vote in all of Minnesota's 87 counties Tuesday, which means they can join Republicans and the DFL in the state's "major party" category.

The Minnesota Secretary of State confirmed the news to Minnesota Public Radio reporter Briana Bierschbach, who notes that the two new parties will have automatic placement on the ballot and can qualify for state campaign subsidies.

The SoS had to confirm that both parties received at least one vote in all 87 counties in Minnesota, which they did. The results wont be official until the election is certified on Nov. 27. Major party status comes after Jan. 1, 2019
