Minnesota Twins: No Other Player Will Wear No. 7

Joe Mauer will join the ranks of Rod Carew, Tony Oliva, Kent Hrbek, Kirby Puckett and more when the Twins retire his number.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Twins will retire Joe Mauer's No. 7 uniform, the club announced Tuesday. After 15 season, Mauer made the decision to retire from Major League Baseball last month.

The Twins will host a pregame retirement ceremony for Mauer sometime next season.

Mauer joins Harmon Killebrew, Rod Carew, Tony Oliva, Kent Hrbek, Kirby Puckett, Bert Blyleven and Tom Kelly as the ninth Twins player or manager to have his number retired by the club.

Mauer, 35, is a graduate of Cretin-Durham Hall. He made his major league debut with the Twins in 2004, and played all 15 seasons with the club.
