Minnesota Weather: Easter Sunday Snowfall Totals For Twin Cities

Sunday's snowfall made it the snowiest Easter on record for much of Minnesota.

TWIN CITIES, MN — More than 6 inches of snow fell in parts of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area for Easter Sunday, smashing previous Easter Sunday records.

Here are the officials NWS snowfall totals through 7 p.m. Sunday:

  • Chanhassen NWS site: 6.4 inches
  • Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport Airport: 5.1 inches
  • Eau Claire, WI: 7.7 inches

KARE 11 meteorologist Jason Disharoon states that Sunday was Minnesota's snowiest Easter on record, beating the previous record of 2.5 inches of snow that fell on March 31, 1929.

More snow and some rain are on deck for the Twin Cities Monday. Find the NWS forecast below:

Monday: A chance of snow showers before 3 p.m., then rain and snow showers likely between 3pm and 4 p.m., then snow showers likely after 4 p.m. Increasing clouds, with a high near 38. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Monday Night: Scattered snow showers before 8 p.m., then a chance of flurries between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming clear, with a low around 20. West northwest wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Tuesday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 35. West wind 5 to 15 mph.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 21. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 40. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 22. West northwest wind around 5 mph.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 44. West northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 27. West southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 50. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 34. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
