Minnesota Weather: Weekend Forecast

TWIN CITIES, MN — Expect mostly sunny, clear skies this weekend, with showers coming Saturday night. There is potential for a serious storm Monday.

"There is a chance for strong to severe thunderstorms Monday night across southern Minnesota," says the National Weather Service. "The main threat would be damaging wind. This forecast will likely change over the next few days."

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 83. Calm wind becoming south southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 1 a.m. Increasing clouds, with a low around 65. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 78. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 61. Calm wind.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. Calm wind.

Monday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 67. Calm wind.
