MN GOP Casts Doubt — Without Evidence — On State Election Results
The Minnesota Republican Party chair said Joe Biden's margin of victory in some Minnesota counties suggests that "something is off."

TWIN CITIES, MN — The chair of the Minnesota Republican Party has joined in on the effort to publicly cast doubt on the validity of the 2020 presidential election results without evidence. In both an official statement and on Twitter Thursday, Jennifer Carnahan said that "something is off" about the vote totals.
"What we are finding - extreme abnormalities and statistical variations from Minnesota's historic voter trends," she said, noting that Biden performed better than Hillary Clinton did in 2016.
Anoka County decreased -14.8% in 2016 and surged as well to 33.6% new Democrat votes for Biden in 2020. Carver County saw a 43.1% increase in votes for Biden in 2020 versus a 3.7% growth in 2016 and a .4% growth in 2012 for the Democratic candidate for President.

"It's hard to respond to allegations that are so vague and unformed," Risikat Adesaogun, a spokesperson for the Minnesota Secretary of State, told Patch in an email.

"The bottom line is you can't just throw out conjecture and guesswork without real evidence. The place to raise issue with elections administration is through the court system, not social media."
Large swings in vote margin from election to election are common and not evidence of voter fraud.

"The Minnesota Republican Party has gone all in on Donald Trump's efforts to subvert a free and fair American election based on no evidence whatsoever," Minnesota DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin said in a statement Friday.
"Baseless and reprehensible attacks on the legitimacy of our elections are corrosive to the most basic ties that bind our country together. When election results we do not like become election results we do not accept, American democracy will cease to function. Minnesotans of all political affiliations must repudiate this attack on democracy if we are to remain a country with the incredible freedom to elect our own leaders."
Minnesota is set to certify the results of the election Tuesday.
