Mother Of Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns Dies From Coronavirus
Jacqueline Towns contracted the disease last month and had been in a medically-induced coma.

Jacqueline Towns, the mother of Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns, died from complications resulting from the new coronavirus Monday.
"Jackie, as she was affectionately known among family and friends, had been battling the virus for more than a month when she succumbed on April 13th," the Towns family said in a statement.
Karl-Anthony Towns revealed last month that his mother had contracted the disease. In an emotional video posted to Instagram, the Wolves center held back tears while he explained that both his mother and father had to be hospitalized due to COVID-19.

Towns' dad was eventually allowed to quarantine at his home. However, the condition of Towns' mom was "deteriorating," the NBA player said at the time, as her fever continued to spike despite receiving various medicines.
At one point, things went "sideways." She was then put into a medically-induced coma.

"Jackie was many things to many people - a wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend," her family wrote.
"The matriarch of the Towns family, she was an incredible source of strength; a fiery, caring, and extremely loving person, who touched everyone she met. Her passion was palpable and her energy will never be replaced."
The statement went on to thank the "warriors" at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and JFK Medical Center, "who fought for Jackie day in and day out, and helped Karl Sr. recover from the same virus that took Jackie’s life."
Following the news, social media was flooded with condolences from the NBA community. Towns' former teammates, Jamal Crawford, Tyus Jones, and Zach LaVine, were among the many offering thoughts and prayers for the family.
