Mpls. Recycling 'Has Gone Backwards': Mayoral Candidates Clash at 'Green' Debate

A half-dozen candidates for mayor of Minneapolis tried to out-green each other Tuesday in Southwest Minneapolis at the Minneapolis Clean Energy Forum. The few who showed up to watch the debate at Washburn High School's auditorium were treated to "pointed comments" along with recitations of "green credentials," the Southwest Journal reported:
That moderator was former WCCO–TV anchor Don Shelby, who opened the forum by asking the candidates whether they believed a documented rise in global temperatures was human-caused through the “use of fossil fuels and land management.” Shelby asked for a show of hands, and each candidate raised his or her hand. ...
“These are people who have done nothing on this issue while they have been in office,” [former Hennepin County Commisser and DFL mayoral candidate Mark] Andrew said. “The city’s recycling program has gone backwards.”
