Nearly 1,800 In Twin Cities Metro Woke Up Without Power
A historic December thunderstorm brought violent winds and intense rains in the Twin Cities metro and across the state.

TWIN CITIES, MN — At least 1,762 Xcel Energy customers in the Twin Cities metro area woke up without power Thursday morning, following a thunderstorm that brought violent winds and intense rains.
Thousands more customers outside the metro also power, especially in southern Minnesota, where wind gusts up to 70 mph were reported in Fairmont and Blue Earth counties.

Hartland, Minnesota — where there were reports of an unconfirmed tornado— appears to have suffered some of the worst damage from the storm.
